Risks Of Rhinoplasty: Knowing Possible Adverse Results

There are several risks associated with rhinoplasty. It is best you know what they are before considering going through rhinoplasty for functional or cosmetic reasons.
Rhinoplasty is conducted to achieve nasal refinement. The bones of the nose are restructured to attain a more pleasing appearance or to correct physical defects that cause difficulty in breathing and other uncomfortable conditions.
Though most results are satisfactory for both doctor and patient, complications can still occur. However, when you choose a qualified and reputable cosmetic surgeon, problems are rare and usually minor. You can reduce the possibility of complications by strictly following your doctor’s instructions before and after rhinoplasty.
Common Complications
The following is a list of likely unfavorable consequences of rhinoplasty:
1. You may acquire an infection or unpleasant reaction to the anesthesia applied during surgery.
2. You may have scars when an open technique is used. If you have your nostrils narrowed, the scars made on the outside of your nose may be visible for an indefinite amount of time.

9. Your body may not heal correctly due to serious human error on the surgeon’s part.
10. Your nose may pull to one side if the cast does not properly support it the first week.
11. You may never get used to your new look.
12. Secondary rhinoplasty and tertiary rhinoplasty are common. This surgery has the highest rate of revision.
Depression and Disorientation after Rhinoplasty
You may have a hard time getting accustomed to your new nose. You may have difficulty being comfortable with the new look. You may feel uneasy seeing scars, bruises, discoloration and swelling. You may dislike the new shape of your nose because it wasn’t what you expected.
Some reports state that disrupting sensitive receptors in the nose can lead to minor disorientation and depression for several weeks or months after undergoing rhinoplasty. These reports still need to be studied and qualified.
Most of the time, depression is caused by dissatisfaction. Make sure you understand the risks and complications of rhinoplasty before getting that nose job.
